According to a new study, relationships between couples trying for a child have sex on average 78 times before becoming pregnant. Another 43% felt pressured in case they weren't successful in getting pregnant. The survey found that when trying to get pregnant, women take the lead in the bedroom, with 2 in 5 admitting they initiate sex more frequently and 13% spending money on sexy underwear to get their partner in the mood. 

 

Even one in sixteen women scheduled a special "baby-making vacation" or weekend getaway. 39 percent of women improved their diet and took more vitamins, while 50% tried to time their sexual activity with the menstrual cycle. However, 5% employed more unusual techniques, such as gender-prediction calendars and fertility spells. A fifth of couples took between a year and three years, while just under a third became pregnant in the first month, according to the study.

 

Far from being an unlucky number, 13 seems to be the lucky number couples need each month to fall pregnant," said Siobhan Freegard, the founder of ChannelMum.com. But while trying to conceive can be enjoyable, it can also be difficult and stressful, and not every couple is fortunate enough to succeed, so try to remember about each other as well while you're focused on the baby.
